Victim of Washington Park’s third homicide of 2025 is identified

A man was fatally shot early Thursday on North 53rd Street in Washington Park, Illinois State Police said.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the victim as Derrick Golliday, 35. He said Golliday was pronounced dead at the scene in the 1200 block of North 53rd Street, at 2:13 a.m. Dye said Golliday appears to have been unhoused.

The Washington Park Police Department requested state police to assist in the investigation of the shooting reported at 12:50 a.m. Thursday.

The location of this shooting is within a block of a fatal shooting on March 19 when a 39-year-old man was killed outside a nightclub in the 1200 block of Kingshighway. Also, a man was shot in October outside this club.

The shooting death on Thursday is the third homicide in Washington Park this year, according to reports published in the Belleville News-Democrat.

No other details about Thursday’s shooting have been released by police.
