O’Fallon registered sex predator now faces child porn charges, police say
A registered child sex predator living in an O’Fallon hotel was charged Thursday with new sex offenses, including a child pornography charge.
Donald W. Dossett Jr., 73, was charged with one count of child pornography with a victim under 13 and one count of sexual exploitation of a child under 13/expose self, according to a criminal complaint filed in St. Clair County. Online court records incorrectly show the number of counts Dossett faces.
The investigation began June 8 after two children reported a man exposed himself to them at the Welcome Suites at 148 Regency Park in O’Fallon, where Dossett had been residing, according to an O’Fallon Police Department news release Thursday.
“The O’Fallon Police Department urges any parents or guardians whose children may have had contact with Dossett to engage in open conversation with them,” the news release states. “Should any behavior of concern or indication of inappropriate conduct arise, we strongly encourage you to contact the O’Fallon Police Department.”
Dossett was arrested and was being held in the St. Clair County Jail, police said.
A defense attorney is not listed in court records for Dossett.
The Illinois State Police sex offender registry states Dossett was convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault in Madison County. He was 49 at the time of the offense and the victim was 9.
