Two people shot inside McDonald’s in Belleville, police say

Two people were shot inside a Belleville McDonald’s restaurant Wednesday after two employees were in a “confrontation” and one of them fired gunshots, police said.

Police responded to a shots fired call at about 4:45p.m. at the restaurant at 125 South Belt East.

The two victims were transported to a hospital and were in stable condition Wednesday night, according to a news release from the Belleville Police Department.

“Two employees got into a confrontation in the office area of the business,” Lt. Col. Mark Heffernan said in an interview. “An employee fired shots and two individuals were struck.”

One person is in custody at the Belleville Police Department, Heffernan said.

No other details about the shooting were available.

Heffernan said police are in the preliminary stages of their investigation.
