An East St. Louis woman has been charged with not reporting or stopping after a woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in the 2200 block of State Street on Saturday in East St. Louis.

Parshay M. Lewis, 34, surrendered to police Monday, according to an Illinois State Police news release Thursday. She is charged in connection with the hit and run that killed 35-year-old Coryesha Davis on Saturday.

After being struck, Davis was transported to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries, the release said.

“ISP special agents located the suspect’s vehicle and identified Lewis as a suspect,” according to the release.

Lewis was charged Wednesday with failure to report an accident resulting in injury or death, a Class 1 felony; failure to stop after having an accident involving death, a Class 4 felony; and failure to give information / render aid to injured, a Class A misdemeanor.

Court records do not list a defense attorney for Lewis.

Lewis was being held in the St. Clair County Jail Thursday, police said.

The East St. Louis Police Department requested assistance from Illinois State Police after Davis was struck.
