Three-year-old metro-east girl suffers gunshot wound, police say

A 3-year-old girl was shot in the arm Tuesday night on Carol Street in East St. Louis.

Police Chief Kendall Perry said the girl is recovering from her wound.

Perry said the case remains under investigation and he did not release details about the circumstances of the shooting. Also, no arrests have been announced.

Perry said officers received a call at 11:50 p.m. regarding the shooting in the 8200 block of Carol Street.

The girl was taken to Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights for medical treatment.
