O’Fallon man faces child pornography charges

A 60-year-old O’Fallon man faces three counts of possession of child pornography, the O’Fallon Police Department announced Thursday.

Keith M. Burton was charged in a criminal information filed on Tuesday by the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office, according to a news release from the police department and court records.

The police department said Burton was arrested at his home and has since been released from custody pending his trial because his charges are considered “non-detainable” under the Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity-Today, or SAFE-T, Act.

The charges stem from an ongoing investigation that began in June.

No other details of the allegations were released.

A lawyer for Burton was not yet listed in county court records on Thursday.
