The man whose body was found by police in Frank Holten State Park Wednesday morning has been identified by the St. Clair County coroner.

Michael Rogers, 42, was discovered on the backside of the Grand Marais Golf Course on North Park Drive at 10:21 a.m. He was pronounced dead at 12:20 p.m., St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said.

Rogers’ death was the result of gunshot wounds he sustained, Dye said.

Police have not said whether they identified any possible suspects or if they’ve uncovered a motive for the homicide.

Illinois State Police’s Division of Criminal Investigations, Zone 6, is leading the investigation.

In a news release from ISP, officials said authorities are in the early stages of the investigation and no other details will be released at this time.
