A 24-year-old Edwardsville man was sentenced to 10 years in an Illinois prison for distributing child pornography.

James Berry pleaded guilty to the Class X felony Wednesday, according to Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine’s office. Berry had been accused of disseminating a video including images of “an unclothed child” on Kik, a free messaging application for mobile phones.

Edwardsville Police acted on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which led them to the video on Berry’s cell phone, according to a release from Haine’s office.

Berry, who has no prior criminal history, will have to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
