Man fatally shot in his home near Belleville, coroner releases victim ID
A 36-year-old man was shot to death early Wednesday at a home in unincorporated Belleville, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department said.
Jonathan M. Moore was pronounced dead at his home at 225 Sheffield Drive, according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.
“At this point, the Sheriff’s Department is not actively looking for any suspects in reference to this case and there is no threat to the community,” the department said in a news release.
Deputies received a call at 12:24 a.m. that a weapon had been fired in the 200 block of Sheffield Drive, which is in the neighborhood behind Emge Junior High School.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim had already died from an apparent gunshot wound, the news release states.
Detectives have conducted interviews and the investigation remained ongoing as of Friday, authorities said.
