Belleville police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man Sunday afternoon.

It was the second homicide investigation Belleville police launched Sunday.

Officers were called about 3:50 p.m. to the Qdoba, 5870 Belleville Crossing, for a report of a person shot, police said. They found the man suffering from a gunshot wound.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the victim as Montavion Conrad, 20, of Belleville. He was pronounced dead at Belleville Memorial Hospital at 4:17 p.m.

Two suspects are in police custody, according to a release from the Belleville Police Department.

Witnesses identified a suspect vehicle, which a Belleville officer located a short time later, police said. The vehicle fled and later crashed in the 6600 block of Old St. Louis Road. Two suspects ran from the vehicle, and officers from multiple agencies set up a perimeter, police said.

Both suspects were taken into custody and are being held at the Belleville Police Department. The investigation remains active and ongoing, police said.

The homicide was the second reported in Belleville Sunday. Police also responded to the 200 block of Union Avenue Sunday morning on the report of a disturbance. Arthur Sheard, 78, was pronounced dead of a stab wound at the scene, Dye said.

A person of interest was later located and taken into custody in St. Louis by Belleville detectives and St. Louis city police officers, authorities said.
