A Venice man admitted Friday that he helped carjack a man at gunpoint in St. Louis in 2024 and later fired at another person near downtown, federal prosecutors said.

Harry Moore, 21, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri to one count of carjacking and one count of possessing and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime.

Moore admitted driving a Cadillac stolen in Belleville to the 2900 block of Minnesota Avenue on Sept. 4, 2024, prosecutors said. Two other people in the car, including a juvenile, got out and demanded a Subaru Outback driver’s wallet, iPhone and keys at gunpoint.

Moore, who was also armed, demanded the victim unlock the phone and provide the PIN for his debit card, according to court documents.

Prosecutors said Moore then drove to a gas station, where he used the victim’s debit card to withdraw more than $200 from an ATM and used the victim’s phone to send $200 through Cash App.

About an hour later, Moore was riding in the front passenger seat of the stolen Outback when he spotted someone from a rival group walking near Ballpark Village, prosecutors said. Moore fired multiple rounds from a .45-caliber handgun as the person ran into a parking garage, the court documents state.

Investigators later found the juvenile and the Outback in East St. Louis, prosecutors said.

Moore was arrested Oct. 10, 2024, inside a home in Cahokia Heights where investigators found three guns, including a Glock authorities said was used in the shooting.

Moore is scheduled to be sentenced July 27. The carjacking count carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. The firearm brandishing count carries a mandatory minimum of seven years in prison that must be served consecutively to any other sentence, prosecutors said.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the FBI and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department in Illinois investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Martin is prosecuting the case.
