One hurt, two arrested following stabbing at Fairview Heights hotel

Officers from at least a half-dozen metro-east police departments rushed to a Fairview Heights hotel Wednesday night after a person was reported stabbed.

Police were dispatched to the Drury Inn & Suites on Illinois 159 at Interstate 64 at 9:39 p.m. Emergency radio transmissions indicated a stabbing victim was located on the third floor of the hotel. Police secured a section of the third floor hallway while other officers escorted paramedics to the injured person, who was removed at 9:47 p.m., the radio transmissions indicated.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where his or her condition is unknown.

At 9:50 p.m., officers reported that one person was in custody. A second person was in custody six minutes later.

Police at the scene offered no additional details about the incident.

In addition to Fairview Heights police, assisting officers included Illinois State Police troopers, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department deputies and officers from O’Fallon, Swansea and Caseyville.
