A 24-year-old man was found shot to death Saturday night at the corner of Williams and Ellen streets in Cahokia.
The victim’s identity has not been released by police pending notification of his family.
Cahokia Detective Dennis Plew said the shooting happened about 10:15 p.m. The Cahokia Police Department was notified shortly after when a passerby saw the body of a black male laying on the ground.

Plew confirmed that multiple gunshots were fired. He said police do not know the motive for the shooting.
“It’s very early in the investigation. We have some leads we are following up on,” Plew said.
Plew, who is deputy commander of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, said 15 Major Case investigators were activated shorty after the homicide.
The shooter has not yet been identified by police.
