Collinsville school employees positive for COVID-19. Students return to class Tuesday

Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 employees tested positive for COVID-19, the district confirmed Monday.

Students are scheduled to school under a hybrid plan, with in-person and remote components on Tuesday. The district has not announced any changes to its return to learn plan.

“With 700+ employees and 15 facilities, it’s inevitable that people in our district will test positive based on the scope of the pandemic,” said a press release issued by the district that was not posted to its own website. “That’s why we have worked for months with public health officials to devise a response plan based on [Illinois Department of Public Health] guidelines.”

While the release confirmed more than one positive case, the district said it would not comment on an individual case or provide information that may inadvertently identify a person.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced new restrictions for the metro-east region on Sunday, after three straight days of an 8% positivity rate.
