‘Modern day castle’ for sale is cool — but TikTok users freaked out about this bedroom
A residence that’s for sale in Barrington Hills, Illinois, for $1.9 million has some people oohing and awing on TikTok, while others are pointing out one specific bedroom that appears … off.
“Architectural elements of Medieval to modern day castle blend in creating an experience that lets your imagination run wild,” the listing on Realtor says. “Six acres of royalty surround this palace with a wrought iron gate leading to a winding drive and an alluring entry.”
Yes, the five-bedroom, 5.5-plus-bathroom property is a castle, but it’s gleaming with modern amenities. Built in 1975, the brick wonder has the royal look of something straight out of “Game of Thrones” — only smaller.
The inside is no different.
High ceilings, brick pillars and hardwood floors welcome in a dramatic fashion while intertwining with modern rooms like the large kitchen and a wrap-around terrace. Other features include:
Fireplaces
Two-story staircase
Indoor pool
Breakfast bar
Views
New laundry room
Romeo and Juliet iron balcony
While both the inside and outside are appealing, a popular TikTok page is not impressed by one room. The creator of @zillowtasttrophes singled out a bedroom in the 7,546-square-foot home with a bizarre paint job.
“Late at night when I can’t sleep, and I’m thinking about this all might be a simulation, the last thing I want is to look at my walls around me and think that the walls are crumbling into a giant black hole,” the creator said while looking at the photos of the house.
And most agreed with her.
“It’s like the ken house from the movie hahaha the mojo dojo Casa house,” one person compared on TikTok.
“It looks like a remodeled Medieval Times…” another said.
“I absolutely love the house,” someone noted.
“I hate that the interior is not castle themed or gothic at all,” one person commented.
Barrington is about 40 miles northwest of Chicago.
