‘Playful’ shelter dog lost owner — his best friend. Now, he needs a new home
A “playful” shelter dog lost his owner — and now, he needs a new home.
“Despite everything he’s been through, Domino is always happy about life,” a North Carolina shelter wrote Nov. 25 on Facebook. “He’s resilient, full of love, and ready to show his new family just how much joy he can bring.”
Domino is up for adoption after he arrived at the Humane Society of Catawba County in early October. The 4-year-old pup had been surrendered after the death of his owner, who was his best friend, the shelter wrote in an online adoption profile and an email to McClatchy News.
“Domino has faced some tough times in his life, but he’s never lost his spirit or love for life,” the humane society wrote. “After losing his best friend and finding himself in a shelter impacted by Hurricane Helene, he eventually found his way to us.”
After the humane society took in Domino, it discovered that he was heartworm positive. Even when the pup was sick, he “stayed strong and full of love,” according to past social media posts.
Now, Domino has finished treatment and waits for a new home. He’s described as a mixed-breed pup who has the right amount of energy to enjoy both hiking and cuddling.
“Domino is vocal, playful, and always up for a good time,” the shelter wrote. “He loves to chat and make noise when you pet him, play with him, or take him for walks. His quirky nature will bring lots of joy to your life.”
Domino, who ideally would be the only pet in his next home, was still available for adoption as of Nov. 26. Details about the shelter’s adoption process can be found at catawbahumane.org.
“If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and vocal companion who’s overcome so much and is ready to give his whole heart, Domino might be the perfect match for you,” the animal organization wrote.
The humane society is in the Hickory area, a roughly 45-mile drive northwest from Charlotte.
