If you need help finding your polling place or are unsure where to drop off a mail-in ballot, we’ve put together the details.
How do I find my Nov. 8 polling place in Illinois?
Voters can use the Illinois State Board of Elections’ online polling place locator tool to search for their assigned location. You will be prompted to enter your zip code, followed by your street number and a drop-down menu to select your street name.
In addition, you can check your election authority’s website for a locator.
Another option for voters across the U.S. is Vote.org. The nonpartisan nonprofit offers an address-based polling place locator.
Metro-east polling place locations
For metro-east voters, we’ve linked directly to precinct locations by county below:
St. Clair County (begins on page 14) According to a notice on the St. Clair County clerk’s website, due to power outage, the Nov. 8 polling place for Centreville precincts 5, 13 and 15 had to be changed. Those voters should go to Penniman Elementary, 1820 Jerome Lane, Cahokia Heights, IL 62206.
Madison County (begins on page 2)
Can I still vote Nov. 8 if I’m not registered?
Yes, eligible Illinois residents can still register and vote in the general election under the state’s grace period.
Several sites in metro-east counties are offering grace period registration, but you must register and vote in the same visit.
Where can I return my mail-in ballot in Illinois?
Those voting by mail need to get their ballot back to their election authority in a timely fashion for it to be counted.
If you mail it, the ballot must be postmarked by Election Day and received no later than 14 days after the election.
If you want to return it in your jurisdiction’s drop box, you must do so by 7 p.m. election night. A full list of drop box locations is available online.
