Why are you running? Growing up in Mascoutah most of my life, I’ve developed a passion for our community. Mascoutah, along with Scott Air Force Base, helped shape me into the person I am today. I truly believe that unique combination makes our community the best around. That’s the reason I moved my wife and two daughters back to town nearly five years ago and ran for office in 2017. In my re-election, my goal and commitment remain the same. It’s to help lead the continued success of the district so that our children and community reach its full potential. As always, I’m open to hearing concerns of any parents, staff members and citizens of the community, as well all of the terrific accomplishments the district is achieving.
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it? I believe the top issue currently is how do we as a district respond coming out of this challenging year following the pandemic. COVID-19 has presented us with several issues that we will need to address in a timely fashion moving forward. The increase of our kids falling behind, likely reduction in future financial support from the state, and possible new state requirements to support remote learning for kids going forward are all unique challenges. I don’t have all the answers, but I promise you that I’ll be on the front lines to partner with our district leadership and staff to make sure we do as much as we can for our kids.
Why should people vote for you? I believe my passion for our kids, community and district is unmatched. I’m committed to keeping each of those at the forefront of all decisions. I promise to continue to listen to any concerns of the parents, community residents and staff members. This community made me into the husband and father that I am today. Should I be trusted with another opportunity to serve this flourishing community, I will embrace that challenge and continue to help find ways to make this school community one that everyone wants to be a part of. I have a vested interest as a father of two daughters that will be in the district over the next decade and as a home owner in the community.
