Please list highlights of your civic involvement.

Since 2007, I have served with the Marissa Volunteer Fire Protection District advancing from a fire explorer to firefighter, on to a Lieutenant and most recently being appointed to the rank of Captain by the Marissa Fire District Board. I have served since 2011 as a volunteer Emergency Medical Responder for the Village of Marissa’s First Responder Agency. I also volunteer for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources as a Hunter Safety Education Instructor.

Why are you running?

My interest in running for a Village Trustee position in Marissa is to bring my experience with emergency services and disaster preparedness to the Village to better the community in the future. The current Marissa Emergency Services and Disaster Agency Director is no longer running for office. With that vacancy, I feel as if my particular education and experience will bring more positive outcomes the Village, and improve the Village emergency and disaster preparedness.

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?

Currently, there is no specific issue to be the sole reason of my choice to run for Village Trustee. I am always looking to better my community and help the Village in any way possible. My biggest concern is that our current Trustee and ESDA Director has decided to no longer run for this position; which in turn, is creating a vacancy in our Village Board. Our current director has accomplished a lot in the past few years, and, if elected, I plan to build on his accomplishments to the best of my ability to improve our small community.

Why should people vote for you?

As a proud life-long resident of Marissa, I have passionately served and helped others for many years. Volunteering as an Emergency Medical Responder and a member of the Marissa Fire Protection District have been some of my most rewarding life experiences. During my many years on the Marissa Fire Department, I have proven to be a hardworking, reliable team member. My dedication has offered me opportunities to collaborate with local, regional, and state emergency agencies, develop and lead training and rescue operations, and advance to the position of lieutenant and Captain, which I currently hold. I am self-driven, creative, and take initiative when an opportunity lends itself. I believe my volunteer experiences and leadership skills will transfer well to the position of Village Trustee. I genuinely enjoy helping others and finding ways to work toward a common goal to improve the community we live in. Along with my strong background in emergency services and public safety, I believe the examples of my passion and dedication to serve others will make me an excellent candidate for a Village Trustee position in Marissa. Thank you.
