Please list highlights of your civic involvement: I was an active member in the Highland Civic Woman’s Club from 2012-17. I participated in and helped organize a variety of fundraising events during my time with HCWC, including: PumpkinFest, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, and the annual HCWC Christmas Auction. I attended the first meeting of the Latzer Public Library Book Club in 2011 and have attended almost every book discussion since then.
Why are you running? I have been an engaged citizen for many years, and the time has come for me to run for office and be a representative for the people.
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it? The community has been changed by the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, and every household has been affected by the pandemic. Rebuilding a strong community means facing challenges head-on through good governance with a focus on people and families.
Why should people vote for you? I am the only candidate running for Highland City Council who has not already served at least one term on the Council in some capacity. I am running in the only challenged race for the Council. Government should never be pre-determined or stagnant. I am Highland Voters’ Only Choice for Change. I will not stand in the way of “home grown” economic development, infringe upon the freedom and personal dignity of my constituents, nor squander the ripe opportunity to build tourism for the City by altering the existing ordinance which permits the operation of a licensed marijuana dispensary within the City limits of Highland. I understand legal code and state regulatory agencies. I know about the law and I will be an advocate for the people of Highland.
