Have you run for elected office before? I have held a Village of Caseyville Trustee position from 2005–2009, 2011–2015. Currently a St. Clair County Board Member District #29 November 2020 – present

Occupation: Operations manager

Education: Some college \u0009

Please list highlights of your civic involvement: As an elected official, I have always been reachable and helping others, along with streamlining information, is a passion.

Why are you running? I am running for numerous reasons. One is to streamline information to parents. Two, I want to ensure the teachers have the resources they need in order to achieve ultimate success for all children of all learning types. Three, I am a major proponent of transparency. Some may not like the answers they get but, rest assured, at least you will get an answer and not the runaround. Four, I have two younger children in this school district, so I am able to also see first hand the challenges that even my own children have faced.

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it? The top issue from feedback I have received was the remote learning rollout. I do not think there was enough feedback taken from teachers who are on the front lines implementing this learning program, along with feedback from parents. A training session of some sort could have been very beneficial. I believe extra training, along with a program specialist on call, would have proved very effective for some teachers to help alleviate some problems even they were having with opening an assignment, an assignment not being uploaded to their end but on the child’s end it was, and just for extra support as everyone was learning things on the fly.

Why should people vote for you? I am not afraid to ask the tough questions, nor am I afraid to make the tough decisions if, and when it becomes necessary. I consider myself a people person. There needs to be communication amongst all parties involved. Just because someone has taught for 30 years, has been retired for a decade, does not necessarily mean they have all the right answers coming from their own mind. I want feedback from teachers, playground aides, parents, principals, janitorial staff, and everyone else to ensure that things are streamlining in a manner of which is productive for all of us. I am not asking to be everyone’s friend. I am only asking to help be everyone’s voice.
