The highest-rated employers by Illinois workers include tech giants, a U.S. government department, a popular grocery store chain and more, according to a recent Forbes report.

The Forbes Best Employers by State ranking was created using a survey of more than 160,000 employees in the U.S. working for companies with at least 500 employees. The survey asked how likely the participant was to recommend their employer on a scale of zero to 10, how they would evaluate their employers from the past two years and other organizations they were familiar with through industry knowledge or friends and family.

Illinois offers unemployment assistance to eligible applicants with acceptable reasons for leaving their last job. Two new labor-related laws went into effect as well July 1, including the Freelance Worker Protection Act and protections for child social media influencers.

If you’re interested in working in the public sector, the Illinois state government is hiring for dozens of jobs in the metro-east.

Here’s what to know about the top 25 best employers in Illinois, according to Forbes. Illinois’ top-ranked employers are not exclusively based in the state.

Google and Apple switched places in the top two compared to last year’s ranking, and Salesforce dropped two places.

BJC Healthcare, based in St. Louis, landed in 38th place, and Southern Illinois Healthcare was in 39th. World Wide Technology, based in St. Louis suburb Maryland Heights, was in 50th. Southern Illinois University Carbondale also made the list, in 81st place.
