Winter weather in April? Snow appears headed for the metro-east
It appears winter will make one more visit to the metro-east.
According to the National Weather Service of St. Louis, there’s a 30% chance of snow showers Thursday night and the possibility of snow Friday morning.
“Any snow that impacts the area will be light,” Lydia Jaja, a meteorologist with the NWS of St. Louis, said Thursday afternoon. “We’ll have rain that will change to snow very late in the night — probably between 5 and 6 a.m.”
Jaja added the snow will wrap up around 9 or 10 a.m. with little, if any, accumulation. It will not impact the morning commute, she said.
“Any snow that falls will be light,” she said. “The ground temperature has been above 32 degrees for so long that nothing will really stick.”
Temperatures will remain chilly the next couple days, with Friday’s high being near 45 with a low around 32 and wind gusts as high as 26 mph, according to the NWS forecast.
Saturday will see a slight warm-up with a high of 54 before temperatures surge to 69 on Sunday and 72 on Monday. There is a 40% chance of rain from Sunday night through Tuesday night, with showers and a possible thunderstorm in the NWS forecast for Wednesday.
