Poll results: Here’s the high school baseball player of the week in southwest Illinois
Dalton Boruff of Breese Central High School is the winner of this week’s Belleville News-Democrat Baseball Player of the Week high school poll, as selected by readers of bnd.com.
In recent action, Boruff, a senior pitcher/2nd baseman, went 5-for-8 with 2 home runs 3 runs scored, 2 walks and 5 RBI. He also fired a 6-inning 1-hitter in a win against Salem while striking out 10; Boruff collected two hits and an RBI in the game as well.
Boruff entered the weekend 6-0 on the season with a 0.73 earned run average and 53 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings, while allowing just 16 hits. Additionally, Boruff was batting .397 on the season with 4 home runs and 27 RBI.
Boruff tallied 36% of the votes to finish ahead of Triad High School’s Jake Radosevich, who secured 24% of the votes. Other BND nominees included Brendan Brock of Mascoutah High School, Ean DiPasquale of Belleville East High School, Eli Hoerner of Freeburg High School, Matt Miscik of Highland High School and Spencer Stearns of Edwardsville High School. The poll ended at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
