Poll results: BND readers in southwest IL vote on their favorite high school fall sport

Who’s ready for some high school fall sports?

Practice already has begun and games are right around the corner for the metro-east high school circuit.

In this regard, the latest Belleville News-Democrat poll asked what your favorite high school fall sport is to watch or follow.

The choices were: Football, boys soccer, girls cross country, boys cross country, girls volleyball, girls tennis, girls golf, or boys golf. The poll closed at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.

And the winner is ... football, which garnered 41% of the votes. The metro-east prep football campaign starts Friday, Aug. 26.

To be clear, this poll is not scientific. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. It’s all for fun, BND readers.

The next poll will appear on the BND’s website — www.bnd.com — at 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, and will be a kickoff, no pun intended, to the upcoming high school football season with specific focus on Week 1 games.

Please email poll ideas to gvartanian@bnd.com.
