Regular season for metro-east boys basketball teams wraps up with several key results

The metro-east boys basketball season continued with several key games Thursday and Friday.

Here is a quick view of some of the outcomes.

Of note, Friday was the last night of the regular season for the boys, with the playoffs set to start. For a complete list of regional pairings, please click here. The pairings also ran in the BND’s Friday print edition.

Southwestern Conference

O’Fallon 75, Cahokia 57 (Thursday)

The Panthers concluded regular season action with an 18-point win against the Comanches.

Koby Wilmoth paced O’Fallon with 22 points, while Jaeden Rush added 15 points and Rini Harris chipped in 14 points. Armon Smith had 20 points for Cahokia and Omarion Gooden contributed 13 points.

The Panthers raced to a 25-10 lead after one quarter and never looked back in improving to 22-7. The Comanches dropped to 10-22.

Alton 83, Collinsville 55 (Friday)

The Kahoks rolled to a 28-point win against the Redbirds.

Collinsville improved to 20-11 and 7-5 in league play. Alton fell to 6-24, 0-12.

Jake Wilkinson lead the Kahoks with 21 points, while Zach Chambers scored 16 points, Nick Horras 12 points and Jamorie Wysinger 10 points.

Belleville West 57, Edwardsville 45 (Friday)

The Maroons eased past the Tigers by 12 thanks in no small part due to a balanced attack that saw four players get into double figures.

Myles Liddell led West with 16 points, while David Marshall Jr scored 12 points, Brandon Scott added 11 points and Jordan Lacey notched 10 points.

The Maroons approved to 14-15 overall and 4-8 in league play. The Tigers fell to 20-10, 7-5

Cahokia Conference

Breese Central 48, Columbia 46 (Thursday)

The Cougars slipped past the Eagles to wrap up the Cahokia Conference (Mississippi Division) crown.

Cody Dickshot led Breese Central with 14 points and Zane Schrage added 13 points. Sam Donald paced Columbia with 10 points.

The Cougars improved to 26-4 overall and 10-0 in league action while the Eagles fell to 27-4, 8-2. Breese Central outscored Columbia 19-12 in the fourth quarter to overcome a 34-29 deficit.

Mississippi Valley Conference

Highland 58, Waterloo 51 (Thursday)

Highland finished the regular season at 21-10 overall and 6-4 in league action following a win against Waterloo, which dropped to 8-23, 1-9.

Mascoutah 52, Civic Memorial 39 (Friday)

The Indians topped to the Eagles by 13 points while improving to 21-10 overall and 7-3 in league play.

The Eagles dropped to 14-18, 3-7.

Independent

Alton Marquette 47, Gibault 41 (Thursday)

The Explorers handled the Hawks by six points in the regular season finale for both clubs.

Alton Marquette improved to 19-12, while Gibault dropped to 24-7.

Parker Macias led the Explorers with 14 points, with Braden Kline added 13 points and Jaden Rochester 12 points. Kaden Augustin paced the Hawks with 15 points.

Granite City 42, Mater Dei 39 (Friday)

The Warriors improved to 16-14 with a three-point win against the Knights, who dropped to 13-16.
