Poll results: Volleyball star from Breese Central is Southwestern Illinois Athlete of the Week

Volleyball player Ella Jackstadt of Central High School in Breese is the Belleville News-Democrat Athlete of the Week, as selected by readers of bnd.com.

Jackstadt, a junior, led her team to win the championship over Columbia at the O’Fallon Autumn Classic and made the All-Tournament Team at O’Fallon Autumn Classic. In 7 games, she totaled 170 assists, 44 digs, 64 serve attempts, 11 assisted blocks, and 9 kills.

Jackstadt received 84% of the votes after the Central Cougars’ win streak continues this season.

  • Lindsey Muskopf, Freeburg High School, Senior, 6-Rotation Outside: Muskopf collected 46 kills, 66 digs, 27 service points, and 4 solo blocks in 6 matches. Lindsey was also named the tournament MVP at the Monster Mash tournament over the weekend after the teams championship victory over Mascoutah.
  • Adam Reiniger, Collinsville High School, Senior, Forward: Reiniger had 3 goals along with the game-winning goal in the Kahoks 5-2 victory over O’Fallon.
  • Micah James, Columbia High School, Junior, Forward: James had 2 goals in the Eagles 8-0 victory over Metro-East Lutheran.
