East St. Louis wide receiver sets announcement date for college selection
One of the top high school football players in the nation, East St. Louis senior Dominic Lovett’s major decision is now about a month away.
Ranked as the No. 4 senior in the state by 247 Sports, Lovett announced late last week he will make his college choice Sept. 11.
The 5-10, 175-pound Flyers star who helped lead East St. Louis to the IHSA Class 6A state title in November, Lovett caught 73 passes for 1,541 yards and 16 touchdowns a year ago.
Lovett has offers from many of the top programs in the nation, but last month listed Missouri, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon and Penn State as his top five choices. Lovett also has offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Illinois, Purdue, Iowa State, Louisville, West Virginia, Minnesota, Indiana, Michigan State and Northwestern.
Lovett’s East St. Louis teammate, quarterback Tyler Macon, recently gave a verbal commitment to the University of Missouri while fellow Flyers wide receiver Keontez Lewis committed to UCLA in July.
