East St. Louis offensive lineman picks up offer from SEC power

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, East St. Louis offensive lineman Miles McVey is still a full six months away from the start of his sophomore season.

But the college scholarship offers keep rolling in.

Already ranked one of the top-ranked offensive tackles in the nation for the Class of 2023, the 6-foot-7, 350-pound McVey said on his Twitter account Monday he has received a scholarship offer from the University of Florida.

Florida joins Southeastern Conference rivals Georgia and Mississippi as schools who have offered McVey, a key member of the offensive line which helped East St. Louis win the IHSA Class 6A state title in November.

McVey also has scholarship offers from Bethune-Cookman and Arizona State.

Flyers wide receiver Keontez Lewis committed to UCLA last month while a second wide receiver, Dominic Lovett, will give a verbal commitment next month.

Ranked as the No. 4 recruit in Illinois, Lovett has scholarship offers from, among others, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Oregon and Penn State.

All-state quarterback Tyler Macon committed to Missouri earlier this spring.
