One shot to death, one wounded in vehicle in Washington Park
Two people were found shot, and one was dead, on Sunday night at the intersection of 47th Street and Hallows Avenue in Washington Park.
Anthony J. Pannell Jr., a 24-year-old East St. Louis man, was found dead with gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of a Chevrolet Impala that had run off the road and crashed, according to the Illinois State Police, who is assisting in the case.

Amber Bieser, 23, of St. Mary, Missouri, was also in the vehicle with life-threatening injuries, police said. She was taken to a St. Louis-area hospital.
Bieser’s 2-year-old son was in the back seat and was not harmed, but was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, police said.
