Company buys Gordman’s, says some stores will stay open

Stage Stores, Inc. announced Thursday that it is acquiring some Gordmans Stores through bankruptcy action, according to a story from the Bloomington Pantagraph.

Gordman’s announced earlier this month that it was filing for bankruptcy. The chain has a store in Fairview Heights.

In a news release, Stage said it plans to keep at least 50 Gordman’s stores open. Forty-eight others will be closed. The company did not announce which stores would stay open.
