2 face felony charges for stealing more than $300 in perfume

Two people are facing felony charges after attempting to steal more than $300 worth of fragrance bottles from Ulta Beauty in Fairview Heights.

Samantha Eddington, 41, and Toddrick Merritt, 42, were each charged with felony retail theft, a Class 3 felony.

Merritt was arrested May 5 at the scene, but police still have a warrant out for Eddington’s arrest after she complained of an injury, was transported to the hospital, then fled from the ambulance crew, said Tim Mueller, Fairview Heights Police Department spokesperson.

Ulta employees say they saw the two conceal the fragrances and walk outside of the store without putting the merchandise back, Mueller said.

Merritt’s preliminary hearing is set for May 12. Eddington’s hearing has not been scheduled yet.
