Cahokia house a ‘total loss’ after fire

Firefighters from multiple agencies extinguished a house fire Saturday night at 815 St. Thomas Lane.

Cahokia Fire Chief Stephen Robbins said the homeowners were not home at the time, and there were no injuries in the fire, which was reported about 6:10 p.m.

Most of the damage was to the rear of the home. Robbins described the damage as a “total loss.”

The cause of the fire was unknown, and the Illinois State Fire Marshal was called to investigate.

Robbins said Camp Jackson, Alorton, Prairie du Pont, Millstadt and Columbia firefighters assisted Cahokia, while Church Road and Dupo firefighters were on standby.
