Crews respond to structure fire near Cahokia

Firefighters were called about 2 p.m. Sunday to a house fire along Russell Avenue near Cahokia.

Camp Jackson Fire Capt. Josh Sins said crews saw heavy smoke coming from the house when they arrived and were able to extinguish the fire in about three minutes.

According to Sins, no one was home at the time of the call.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Sins said.

A damage estimate was not immediately available.
