The family of a Decatur man has posted on social media that he is among the 10 sailors missing after a collision between the USS John S. McCain and an oil tanker east of the busy Straits of Malacca on Sunday morning.

Logan Palmer is among the missing, the family says. Palmer’s family attends Life Foursquare Church in Decatur, according to the Herald & Review, and the lead pastor told the paper that the church is helping the family.

“We have absolutely a group of men and women who are helping the family in any way possible,” said lead pastor the Rev. Mark Cooper.

Palmer is a graduate of the Sangamon Valley High School, according to WAND17.

Ten sailors are missing and four sailors are being treated for injuries. A fifth sailor was injured but did not require medical treatment, according to a statement for the U.S. 7th Fleet.
