Fire crews battle large blaze in Cahokia
Fire crews responded to a house fire on St. Nicholas Drive in Cahokia on Sunday afternoon.
The vacant house, at 724 St. Nicholas Drive, was heavily damaged and Cahokia Fire Chief Stephen Robbins described it as a “total loss.”
The Cahokia, Camp Jackson, Dupo, Prairie Du Pont and Sauget fire departments responded, Robbins said.
Robbins said no one was injured during the fire, which they responded to at 2:36 p.m. By about 3:30 p.m., crews continued to dump water on hot spots in the house and flames were still visible on the front of the house.
The two houses on either side of the burning house also suffered damage to their outer walls closest to the fire.
An investigation into how the fire started is pending.
