Two 18-year-olds die in Madison County motorcycle crash
Two 18-year-old men were killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday night in Wood River.
Bradley C. Wallace, of South Roxana, was driving westbound on Illinois 111 on his Kawasaki motorcycle with another 18-year-old passenger, Jonathan J. Marshal, of Godfrey, according to a press release. They were struck by a van heading eastbound on Illinois 111 and turning onto northbound Charles Avenue.
The driver of the 2003 Ford Windstar was Robert Heaton, 81, from Wood River.
Wallace was pronounced dead at Alton Memorial Hospital at 11:08 p.m. on Sunday. Marshal was airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital, where he later died.
Madison County Coroner Stephen Nonn, who performed the autopsy, said Wallace died as a result of head and chest trauma.
The Wood River Police department and the Metro East Crash Assistance Team are investigating the fatal crash.
Funeral arrangements for Wallace remain pending at this time but are under the direction of Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home of Alton.
