Student brings BB gun to Belleville junior high school
Emge Junior High School administrators confiscated a BB gun from a student Tuesday in Belleville.
According to a parents’ notice sent out by Superintendent Dr. Pam Leonard, the student was found to have a BB gun in their backpack after arriving at school Tuesday morning.
The weapon was confiscated immediately and “at no time was any student in danger or threatened” the notice read.
“This is an important reminder to all students and to all parents/guardians that a weapon, or look alike weapon, of any kind, is not permitted on school grounds and that any offenders will face the full consequences of their actions,” Leonard said in the notice.
Leonard said Tuesday she cannot disclose details of student discipline.
A little over a week ago, a 16-year-old student at Cahokia High School brought a gun to school Sept. 19. Police confiscated the weapon and no one was threatened or injured.
