A Collinsville woman threw a bar stool at her 7-year-old son and knocked her 9-year-old son to the ground Sept. 26, police say.

Amanda Gibson, 29, was at her parents’ house where she lives in Collinsville when she and her parents started fighting about her use of illegal substances, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Bruce Fleshren said.

During the altercation, Gibson threw household objects and pushed her 9-year-old child to the floor, Fleshren said. She also threw a bar stool at her 7-year-old child, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.

Gibson also repeatedly struck her mother and scratched and punched her father in the jaw, according to police.

The children remained with their grandparents after the incident, who have legal custody of the two. Neither child required hospitalization.

Gibson was charged Sunday with four counts of domestic battery, aggravated battery and endangering a child. Gibson was in custody at the St. Clair County Jail as of Monday morning with a bail of $30,000. Her preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 6.

At the time of the incident, Gibson also had pending charges for two counts of battery in Centreville from July 29. Her bench trial is scheduled for Oct. 17.

She was also convicted Nov. 18, 2016 for resisting a police officer on Aug. 4 of that year.
