Live! by Loews will soon begin building a eight-story hotel at Ballpark Village, the St. Louis Cardinals announced Wednesday morning.

The hotel, named Live! by Loews-St. Louis, is billed as a “upscale hospitality experience,” according to a news release by the Loews Hotels. Construction on the $65 million hotel is expected to start this year.

It will have 216 guest rooms, including 19 suites, and offer several meeting and event spaces. The company has other luxury hotels, including the Loews Hotel Chicago.

The hotel will be the latest addition to the entertainment complex just north of Busch Stadium, with restaurants, bars and the Cardinals Hall of Fame.

In addition to the hotel, a 29-story luxury high-rise apartment tower is planned for the second phase of Ballpark Village, along with more retail and entertainment businesses.

The second phase of the development will create 1,500 construction jobs and more than 1,000 permanent jobs, the Cardinals said.
