Man robbed teen at gunpoint in Belleville, police say
An East St. Louis man has been charged with robbing a teenager while armed with a gun in Belleville.
Deamontay M. Stevenson, 19, was charged with armed robbery and possession of a stolen firearm in connection with a Sept. 6 robbery on North Charles Street in Belleville, according to a news release. Two people, including Stevenson, confronted a 17-year-old as he walked down the street, police said.
One of the suspects displayed a gun and stole an undisclosed amount of money, according to the release. No one was injured.
Stevenson’s bail was set at $500,000. He was still in the St. Clair County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon.
