Body found in burned mobile home in Brighton
Firefighters found a body Friday morning inside a burned mobile home in Brighton.
Crews were called to the house in the 34000 block of Crystal Lake Road at about 6 a.m., Brighton Fire Capt. Jeff Jorden said.
“Our units arrived on scene to a fully involved trailer fire. We extinguished the fire and did a primary search when we arrived,” he said, adding they initially did not find anyone.
However, crews searched the premises again and found a body in the mobile home after the fire was extinguished.
No one else was injured during the fire, Jorden confirmed.
The Illinois State Fire Marshal then took over the investigation, Jorden said.
The Jersey County coroner was expected to release the identity of the victim.
