Swansea attorney seeks election for 20th circuit judge seat
A Swansea attorney announced she is running for circuit judge in the 20th Judicial Circuit in the March 2018 election.
Katherine Ruocco, 50, recently finished a four-year term as an elected village of Swansea trustee and has been a practicing attorney since 2003, according to a press release.
Ruocco is running in the Republican election on March 20 for the seat previously filled by Circuit Judge Jan V. Fliss, who retired.
Ruocco “sees a bright future for Southern Illinois, but recognizes the many challenges facing the 20th Judicial Circuit,” specifically “the need to increase transparency, build the public trust, and foster productive and meaningful community dialogue.”
The 20th Judicial Circuit includes the counties of Monroe, Perry, Randolph, St. Clair, and Washington.
