Righteous Pig closes in Belleville; last day was Thursday
The Righteous Pig in downtown Belleville has closed.
Owner Scott Muir said the restaurant’s last day at that location was Thursday, and his future catering customers have already been contacted. He announced the closure on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
His regular customers “are (ticked) off,” he said by phone Friday morning.
The building’s owner, Kathy Mordini, did not immediately respond to a phone call. She did comment on The Righteous Pig’s Facebook page that she was “sorry to hear this” and said it was not her fault.
The barbecue restaurant, at 124 E. Main St. in Belleville, was known for its Cuban sandwich and pork belly pastrami, Muir said.
“We still use an old-school charcoal-fueled wood smoker,” he said. The smoker has been removed from the building.
