Pavement collapse closes Belleville road

Illinois Department of Transportation officials closed Lebanon Road indefinitely on Thursday for "critical pavement repairs" and improvements.

Access to the road — which was closed between Illinois 161 and West Main Street — will be restored as soon as the work can be completed, according to an IDOT release.

There will be signs up in the area closing the road and directing drivers to an alternate route.

"The department asks that motorists be patient and obey all signs and traffic barricades, and exercise extreme caution when traveling near this work zone," the release said.
