Charges have been filed against one suspect in the robbery Tuesday of the Dollars 4 Gold store in O’Fallon, but a second suspect remained at large as of Friday.

St. Clair County prosecutors have charged Trent L. Yates, 29, of East St. Louis with two counts of armed robbery and one count of attempted armed robbery. His bail was set at $300,000.

The store on U.S. 50 was robbed Tuesday afternoon. Yates was taken into custody shortly afterward.

A second suspect remained at large as of Friday morning. He is described as a black male, about 5-foot-11, about 150 pounds. He was wearing a short-sleeve, red T-shirt, jeans, a gray hoodie, a grayish-black mask and a nylon head rag. He was armed with a a dark-colored semiautomatic handgun.

Police have asked the public to be on the lookout for a green Pontiac Bonneville, possibly an early-2000s model, that was used in the robbery.

Police asked that anyone with information about the second suspect call 911 immediately. They said he should be considered dangerous, and the public should not try to approach him.
