Belleville firefighters responded to a report of a pickup truck on fire Thursday afternoon, which slowed traffic for less than half an hour on Mascoutah Avenue.

Fire Department Capt. Brant Maine said no one was injured as a result. Firefighters said the Chevrolet truck was heading west on Mascoutah Avenue when it started malfunctioning and catching fire. The truck was hauling a trailer full of tree limbs and a Bobcat loader. The fire heavily damaged the front of the vehicle and the top of the cab.

Both lanes of Mascoutah Avenue were temporarily closed at the intersection of Premier Drive for about half an hour due to the fire. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Belleville Police also assisted.
