Swansea drug bust finds pills, heroin, cannabis, meth
A man is facing multiple drug charges after authorities said they found Xanax pills, heroin, cannabis and 27 grams of crystal methamphetamine inside a Swansea mobile home.
Swansea Police Department identified the suspect as 23-year-old Alex D. Rogers. The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Rogers on Thursday with three counts of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of heroin and endangering the life of a child.
Rogers was taken to the county jail, and his bail was set at $75,000.
Police identified an additional suspect as Curtiqua M. Johnson, who was not in custody. The state’s attorney’s office charged Johnson with one count of endangering the life of a child. Her bail was set at $1,500.
The charges come after police said the St. Clair County Drug Tactical Unit received a tip that an individual was selling heroin and methamphetamine from a home near 1401 N. Illinois St. in Swansea.
Authorities said officers with the drug tactical unit were able to make three purchases of crystal methamphetamine from Rogers. Two of the transactions occurred at the residence on North Illinois Street, police said.
After serving a warrant last week, authorities searched the home and said they found pills, heroin, cannabis and crystal methamphetamine.
Swansea Police Chief Steve Johnson gave credit to the drug tactical unit for the arrest.
“Having an officer assigned to the St. Clair County Drug Tactical Unit is a huge asset to the Village of Swansea,” Johnson wrote. “These specially trained drug agents are tenacious in their ability to help weed out bad apples from neighborhoods.”
