Police force car over, charge local public defender with DUI
Alex E. Enyart, an attorney in the St. Clair County Public Defender’s office, has been charged with driving under the influence in Perry County, according to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.
Alex Enyart, who is the son of former Democratic congressmen Bill Enyart and retired judge Annette Eckert, was charged Saturday by the Perry County Sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said deputies and Pinckneyville police officers received a call at 9:18 a.m. Saturday for reckless driving.
Nine minutes later, officers tried to stop a blue 2016 Ford Hatchback, which failed to stop, the sheriff’s office said. An officer had to pull in front of the Ford to block it to force the vehicle to stop.
Alex Enyart, 30, of Belleville was charged with DUI and improper lane usage, the sheriff’s office said. He posted bond and was released.
Alex Enyart declined to comment.
