Burglaries reported in east end of Madison County
Thieves have been targeting outbuildings in the rural southeastern Madison County, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
So far, three incidents have been reported, specifically in rural Troy, St. Jacob and Grantfork. During each, the suspect(s) entered outbuildings stealing and/or attempting to steal utility and/or all-terrain (UTV/ATV) vehicles, lawn equipment and chainsaws.
Madison County Sheriff Capt. Mike Dixon said about $20,000 worth of equipment was taken in the three break-ins.
The incidents are believed to have occurred during the overnight hours between Aug. 15 and Aug. 21.
Dixon said sheriff’s office needs the public’s help in identifying possible suspect’s and/or the vehicle being used.
“We think they may have been using a dually truck, because we found tracks,” Dixon said.
Anyone who lives in the affected areas should contact the sheriff’s office immediately, or call 911, if they encounter any suspicious activity or strange vehicles near any outbuildings during the overnight hours.
